What a beautiful Sunday morning....at Centenary United Methodist Church in Greenwich, NY.
We were all happy to have either worked or attended the Washington County Fair, this past week. Thank you to everyone who helped and are helping make our fritter booth a success.
Our delightful Reverend Deb Peacock graciously greeted each of us today.
Our service was somewhat different this am, as our talented organist had a family emergency and could not be with us. Our prayers and love go to Sally Fox and her family. But low and behold, Mabel Keays accepted the task of playing the piano and giving us notes to sing by from the melody line!! Thanks so much Mabel for your willingness to help.
During joys - George Kelly was recognized for his upcoming85th birthday on the 27th of this month!! We also had two lovely ladies in our congregation, whom had been with Pastor Deb in her early years. What a pleasure to have them join us.
During concerns - Warren Fox was put in our prayers, along with Pastor Deb's daughter Stacy who are undergoing some medical issues. Pastor Deb also made mention of a husband and wife from Argyle who were having medical issues as well.
We all know the power of prayer, and we prayed for all.
Our scripture lessons today were from Romans 12: 1-8 and Matthew 16:13-20. These passages led Pastor Deb to her message "Are You A Living Sacrifice?"
Many times during our lifetime, we become this without even realizing it. Pastor Deb reminded us of the sacrifice that Abraham was requested to do. He was to forsake his only son. Abraham's faith was tested, but he had took his only son and was prepared to kill him and burn him. Until God presented a lamb which was to be substituted in place of Abraham's son. In the book of Matthew we heard how Peter confessed that he knew Jesus was the Christ the Son of the Living God. Our faith is always with us, in every hour, every minute, of every day. Pastor Deb gave us her favorite biblical passage....it is from: Philippians 4: 13 " I can do everything through him who gives me strength".
Until we meet again next Sunday at 10:30 am may the Lord bless you and keep you all.
